Open Space Alliance for North Brooklyn (OSA) is pleased to announce that Konstancja Maleszyńska has joined the park conservancy as the Greenpoint Parks Project Coordinator. The position, which is a new one, will be responsible for creating a sustainable parks stewardship program in the neighborhood through outreach, recruitment, volunteer and education programming.
A lifelong volunteer, Konstancja has invaluable local experience doing parks outreach. In the summer of 2015, she began volunteering with McGolrick Park Neighborhood Alliance (MPNA) and is now a member of its steering committee. At OSA, Konstancja’s role, which is funded in part by the Greenpoint Community Environmental Fund (GCEF), will seek to engage Greenpointers in McGolrick and Transmitter parks, American, Greenpoint, and Newtown Barge playgrounds, and Greenpoint’s community gardens.
Prior to joining OSA, Konstancja worked in the legal and higher education administration sectors. She graduated with a B.A. in English from Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań, Poland and an M.A. in English from Fordham University in New York.
A native of Poland, Konstancja has lived in New York since 2006, and in Greenpoint since 2011. She is an avid urban and trail runner and competitor. Konstancja likes to explore lesser-known parts of New York on foot, bike, and through written histories, and is particularly interested in Greenpoint’s hyper local history. She brings with her a love for crafts, upcycling, and all things vintage.
