About This Cause

On Thursday and Friday, April 21-22, OSA was delighted to serve as co-sponsor of an Earth Day celebration that involved over 100 middle school and high school children in Williamsburg. They cleaned up Marcy Green Center and then planted flowers and laid down mulch. One of the highlights of the two-day event was the participation of Council Member Antonio Reynoso and his staff. The Council Member led by example, spending a couple of hours working at the park — aerating the soil, planting flowers, shoveling mulch and sweeping the pathways.
The horticultural and educational aspects of the project were led by Miguel Hernandez. OSA’s partners included the office of Council Member Antonio Reynoso, El Puente, NYC Together, Brooklyn Arbor School, Partnership for Parks and NYC Parks. In-kind sponsors included Crest Hardware, Nelly’s Flower Shop and Food Bazaar. Thank you to our volunteer gardeners, our partners and our sponsors for such a fun and productive day!
